Fluoride: Good, Bad or Both?

Did you know that in 2010 Time Magazine named fluoride one of the Top 10 Common Household Toxins?


Did you hear about the water treatment plant in Rock Island, Illinois that had a chemical spill of "Hydrofluorosilicic acid (which) is used to add fluoride to the plants water."

According to local TV news report, the chemical was eating through the concrete in the parking lot before Haz-Mat crews showed up.



But though the chemical posed a "burn risk to skin," authorities assured everyone that there was no risk to the public.

Burn risk to skin. Eats through concrete. But yet it OK to use in treating the public water supply? . . . Drink up folks!

However, while Rock Island maybe telling their citizens to "move along, nothing to see here." Other governments are singing a different tune. Calgary, Alberta banned fluoride from their water supply back in February.



The CBC reports today (Feb. 9, 2011) that the city of Calgary will ban fluoride from their water supply. There has been a long running debate as to whether fluoride is good or bad, not only for dental health, but for overall health.
